M. Nannette Marchand refers to her style of writing as a poet and author who is on an interrupted continuum. While working as a Photo Research Analyst at Harcourt-Brace Jovanovich Publishing, she fashioned herself a music critic and submitted unsolicited reviews to Rolling Stone Magazine, covering performances throughout the fertile Bay Area Music Scene.
Her love for music fused with her life stories unleashed a tidal wave of poetry. After writing her first poem, she met Greammy Award winning lyricist, arranger and producer, Skip Scarborough (Earth Wind & Fire, Bill Withers, LTD, Anita Baker). He recognized her gift for writing and to demonstrate his belief in her extraordinary talent, he placed the poem on the album sleeve of his project, 'Feel the Heat' by Bill Summers.
Ms. Marchand's diverse writing career includes volumes of poetry: author of WING TIPS, autobiography of Tuskegee Airman Captain Claude C Davis; several album projects with Scarborough; assistant to Herbie Hancock (Hancock & Joe) interactive video enterprise; verses for greeting cards; and compositions of memorial poems/tributes upon commission for community and special events.
In RHYMES 'N RHYTHYMS 'N BLUES, Ms. Marchand offers a fascinating medley of melodic sensations, wry sensibilities and she lays down her burdens in the blues.
